Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement
At the Round Lake Area Public Library, we strive to provide inclusive experiences for all individuals.
People of all ages and abilities including, but not limited, to those on the autism spectrum, are welcome and encouraged to participate in our sensory-inclusive programs.
Happening the 2nd Sunday of each month, the library will be opening an hour earlier, from 10 am-11 am to allow adults and children with sensory, autism, or other accessibility needs to use the library comfortably and avoid crowds.
Sensory Screen Time
Enjoy a captioned, sensory-friendly movie or show. We’ll provide allergy-friendly snacks, coloring sheets, and the movie! A limited supply of noise-dampening headphones and fidget toys will be available to borrow while viewing, but patrons are also encouraged to bring their own. Happening the 2nd Sunday of each month starting at 10 am.
Located at our Adult and Youth Service Desks, patrons of all abilities can use items in our kits to help make their time at the library more enjoyable.

Social Narrative
The RLAPL Social Narrative describes everything you can expect to see and do while visiting the library. It was created to help anyone who has never been here before become acquainted with the layout of the building and to make them feel more at ease when visiting.
Containing books, digital material, and/or skill-building games/activities are available for checkout.
Does your family need a quieter space?
Book a Study Room Online, or ask if one is available during your visit.
We can deliver books, music, movies, and other items on a monthly basis to Round Lake cardholders who are confined to their homes and unable to visit the library due to a disability or chronic illness.
